Cambria Labs Vision
Cambria Labs is a product prototyping consultancy, founded by Jonathan Rogivue in 2020, in New York City, Austin Texas, and Medellin Colombia.
We build innovative prototypes.
One of the ways we do that is by partnering with our clients, and we show them how to work in an agile fashion.
Free, Nutritious Breakfast
At Cambria Labs, we know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. That's why we bring it in at 08:30, to get the day started right.
And now you're about to experience your first Stand-up.
Stand-up!
Welcome to Stand-up, woo!
Every morning, we gather here to start the day. We discuss trends in tech. What's new, what's hot, and what's notable. Cambrians can get quick help to challenges they might be having, and hear about key events happening in the lab.
After the company stand-up, each team will their own project stand-ups.
Team members review what they accomplished before, what they are working on today, and work through any roadblocks they may have, and how we are tracking on actions brought up during the team Retrospective.
This is what it looks like when we get down to work.
There are no walls. No cubicles. It's about getting everybody co-located, working in a highly transparent and collaborative fashion.
Pairing
At Cambria Labs, we are all about Pair-Collaborating (often called "pair-programming").
We know that two heads is better than one.
Pair-collaborating is like Pilot and Co-Pilot.
It's two monitors, two keyboards, two mice, but only one computer.
The Anchor stays on for the duration of the project.
While the pair-partner may change to accomodate different skillsets.
A pair might be working on a project for months at a time. So we put a lot of thought into matching people up.
We take in account each Cambrian's expertise, as well as their interests, and make sure they will work well together and right for the project.
Because we believe in transforming our clients to be agile, we strongly recommend that they come here, pair with us, learn everything that we know, and bring it all back to their own offices.
Weekly Retrospective
Every week, we invest time in understanding what went right, what was frustrating, and how we can improve next week. We value continuous learning.
Lunch
Every Tuesday we host Lunch and Learns for the community.
This could be guests coming in to give a tech-talk, a Cambrian talking about something they are interested in, or a community town-hall meeting.
Our event space plays host to meet-ups and tech-talks to notable and upcoming leaders.
It's important for us to stay connected to these groups, because Cambrians feed off of their energy and innovation, which they bring to our clients.
Lunch is done, and we are all fed, and now it's time to get back to work.
Continuous integration & testing is one of the key practices here at Cambria Labs.
As you can see on the board, we know the status of all of our builds.
If they are red, they're broken, and need to get fixed. If they are green, they are ready to get deployed.
Although disclipline and hard work are important to us, we know that the ability to do great work requires a time-out, every now and then.
We have ping-pong, padel and other games for Cambrians to play,. when they need to take a break.
Cambrians work hard from 10:30 to 17:30, with breaks for lunch and padel. But after the day is done, they don't take their work home with them.
I think you'll agree, that the way we work here, with discipline and transparency, and collaboration, we are truly changing the way the world builds prototypes.
We hope to see you in person sometime.
